UCLA Finishes 21st at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. – The UCLA men's golf team finished The Prestige hosted on the Greg Norman Course at PGA West 21st at 59-over, 911. Graduate Eddy Lai posted UCLA's best three-round score at 11-over, 224 following a 3-over, 74 in round three.
Lai holed two birdies on the par-3 fourth and par-5 12th in his final 18 holes to tie for 33rd.
No. 18 Vanderbilt surged into first place on day three with a 14-under, 270 to walk away the tournament champion at 16-over, 868. There was only one other under-par team scoring in the third round: a 2-under, 282 by No. 2 Stanford.
Texas Tech's Ludvig Aberg was the tournament's individual champion, completing day three 3-under 210.
Freshman Evan Chien recorded UCLA's best score in the third round with a 2-over, 73 featuring four birdies. Chien shot a 1-under, 35 on the back nine, ultimately finishing tied for 68th at 16-over, 229 for the tournament.
Freshman Pablo Ereño Perez recorded a 5-over, 76 with one birdie on the par-4 15th and six bogeys. Ereño Perez finished tied for 59th at 15-over, 228.
Freshman Alvaro Mueller Baumgart Lucena tied for 79th at 17-over, 230. Muller recorded a 3-over, 74 with three birdies on the back nine in his final round.
The Bruins compete again this weekend in a 54-hole stroke play event at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, Nev., beginning Sunday, Feb. 27 and ending March 1.
