Reyes Named UCLA Student-Athlete of Week, presented by Ready

Midfielder Maricarmen Reyes of the UCLA women's soccer team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Aug. 15-21.

Reyes, a graduate student from Santa Ana, Calif., scored the game-winning goal in UCLA's 1-0 season-opening victory over Iowa on Aug. 18. Reyes one-timed a cross from Quincy McMahon for her fifth career game-winner and her 11th career goal. The Mexican National Team member played 80 minutes and had three shots as the 13th-ranked Bruins recorded their 12th season-opening win in the last 13 years.

This is Reyes' first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and her career.
