Women's Basketball

Freshman guard scored a career-high 22 points to lead UCLA to a comeback win over USC.

Freshman guard Londynn Jones of the UCLA women's basketball team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Jan. 2-8.

Jones scored a career-high and game-high 22 points in Sunday's 61-60 comeback win over rival USC, recording the first 20-point performance of her career. She shot 6-11 from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line and, while guarding veteran USC players, recorded a block and a steal and had zero turnovers in 26 minutes of play. Jones scored seven of her points in the fourth quarter, including a key pair of back-to-back layups, to turn around a 12-point deficit. The freshman from Riverside, Calif. has scored in double figures in four of her last five games.

This is Jones' first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of her career.
