UCLA sophomore Jordan Chiles was selected the Pac-12 Co-Gymnast of the Week, while junior Chae Campbell received Pac-12 Coaches Choice honors, extending UCLA's streak to six weeks with at least one Pac-12 honoree.
Chiles won the all-around with a career-high 39.825 (tied for the highest all-around total in the nation this season) in UCLA's dual meet win over Arizona State. She also won three event titles, scoring UCLA's first perfect 10 of the season on floor, recording her third 9.975 of the year on bars and sticking her double-twisting Yurchenko on vault for a 9.95. Her scores helped UCLA achieve season-high totals on uneven bars (49.575) and floor exercise (49.675), with both scores ranking No. 9 on UCLA's all-time team lists for those events. UCLA's team score of 197.800 was its second-highest of the season. Chiles has scored 9.9 or higher on a team-leading 20 of 24 routines this season, including nine consecutive. This is Chiles' second consecutive and third overall Gymnast of the Week honor. She shares the honor this week with Oregon State's Jade Carey, who also scored 39.825 in her competition last week.
Campbell earned her first-ever Coaches Choice Award and her fifth overall weekly honor after displaying the heart of a champion following a difficult week personally. Campbell returned to competition after being out for a week and hit three top-scoring routines for her team. She placed second on vault with a 9.850, hit a season-high 9.850 as the leadoff on uneven bars, and finished with a 9.925 on floor exercise. Her scores helped her team record season-bests on bars and floor, and the team's total of 197.800 ranks as its second-highest score of the season.
Other Pac-12 weekly award-winners were Utah's Maile O'Keefe (Specialist of the Week) and Makenna Smith (Freshman/Newcomer of the Week).
The sixth-ranked Bruins compete at seventh-ranked California on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2pm.
