INDIANAPOLIS – UCLA men's basketball seniors Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Tyger Campbell have secured USBWA All-District IX honors, as announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
 
Jaquez Jr. has been named the USBWA District IX Player of the Year. The 6-foot-7 senior guard/forward from Camarillo, Calif., has averaged a team-leading 17.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in all 34 games this season.
 
Earlier on Tuesday, Jaquez Jr. captured second-team AP All-America honors and was selected as a first-team NABC All-District 19 honoree.
 
Campbell enters the NCAA Tournament with the best assist-turnover ratio (2.9) of any Pac-12 player. The 5-foot-11 guard from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has averaged 13.6 points and 4.7 assists in all 34 games during his senior season.
 
The other eight selections to the USBWA's District IX team include Azuolas Tubelis (Arizona), Cam Shelton (Loyola Marymount), Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Julian Strawther (Gonzaga), Boogie Ellis (USC), Aidan Mahaney (Saint Mary's), Logan Johnson (Saint Mary's) and Brandin Podziemski (Santa Clara).
 
Jaquez Jr. and Campbell have been instrumental in helping UCLA compile a 29-5 overall record. The Bruins won the Pac-12 regular-season title with an 18-2 conference, finishing ahead of Arizona (14-6) and USC (14-6) by four games. The Bruins lost to Arizona, 61-59, on Saturday night in the Pac-12 Tournament title game in Las Vegas.
 
The No. 2-seed Bruins (29-5) will return to action this Thursday evening in the NCAA Tournament against No. 15-seed UNC Asheville (27-7). Game time at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., is 7:05 p.m. (PT). UCLA's contest against UNC Asheville will be nationally televised on truTV.
