LOS ANGELES – No. 3 UCLA (19-4, 4-1 MPSF) used a strong offensive attack and a dominant defensive effort to cruise to an 11-6 win over fifth-ranked California (17-7, 3-2 MPSF) on Saturday afternoon at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center.

Eight different Bruins got into the scoring column, led by freshman Taylor Smith, sophomore Emma Lineback and graduate student Katrina Drake, who each scored two goals to pace the Bruin offense.

Redshirt senior Georgia Phillips got the start in the cage and went the distance, registering a season- and career-high-tying 18 saves to go with a steal in the win over the Golden Bears. Phillips and the Bruin defense held Cal to just six goals, including a shutout in the fourth quarter.

UCLA held a slim 2-1 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led by the same margin at 5-4 at halftime. The Bruins put a little distance between them in the third quarter, leading 8-6 heading into the fourth quarter. UCLA tacked on three more scores in the fourth period while holding Cal scoreless to provide the 11-6 final.

Cal was led by a hat trick from Maryn Dempsey while Isabel Williams registered seven saves while allowing 11 goals in a complete game.

The Bruins return to action next week when they host No. 1 USC on "Senior Day" to close out the regular season on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 12:00 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
