LOS ANGELES – No. 3 UCLA (18-4, 3-1 MPSF) used a strong offensive attack to cruise to a 17-10 win at No. 19 Arizona State (8-11, 0-4 MPSF) on Saturday afternoon at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.

Nine different Bruins got into the scoring column, led by freshman Taylor Smith and graduate student Ava Johnson, who each scored a hat trick. Sophomores Emma Lineback and Molly Renner, junior Malia Allen, and graduate student Val Ayala each scored twice for UCLA, which improved to 31-2 all-time against the Sun Devils.

Redshirt senior Georgia Phillips got the start in the cage and played the three and a half quarters, tallying eight saves and two steals while allowing seven goals. Freshman Izzy Rosensitto made her third appearance of the season and played the final four minutes of the fourth quarter, giving up two goals while tallying two saves. The final goal of the game that the Bruins allowed was credited to Katrina Drake who was in the 1B cap at the time ASU scored on an empty net.

UCLA trailed 2-0, but scored five unanswered goals. The Bruins led 3-2 at the end of one and 8-5 at the break. UCLA used a dominant 4-1 advantage in the third quarter to put the game out of reach, leading 12-6 after three. The Bruins won the fourth quarter, 5-4, to provide the 17-10 final.

ASU freshman Juliette Dhalluin scored six goals on 11 shots to pace the Sun Devil offense while Alexa Knutson registered 10 saves while allowing 17 goals in a complete game.

The Bruins return to action next week when they host No. 5 California on Saturday, Apr. 15 at 1:00 p.m. PT.
