SALY, Senegal – UCLA Women's Basketball won its friendly match against the Senegal A' U25 National Team at NBA Academy Africa on Wednesday, 87-59. UCLA scored more than 20 points in each of the four quarters of the game.
Three Bruins were in double figures; Angela Dugalic led all scorers with 20 points, Londynn Jones added 17 points and Kiki Rice finished with 10. Dugalic and Jones both scored 10 points in a quarter during the game. Dugalic shot a scorching 4-of-5 from three-point land, and she gathered six rebounds to go along with her two blocks and one steal.
The team out-rebounded Senegal 50-33, winning the battle on the offensive glass 11-3. Amanda Muse had three of those offensive boards in her first appearance with the Bruins – the freshman recorded four points and five rebounds in the win. Sophomore Christeen Iwuala led all rebounders with eight, and she had eight points of her own in the game.
Q1 – Dugalic led all scorers through the first, scoring seven points on perfect shooting – she was 2/2 from the field and 2/2 from the line. UCLA held Senegal to 4-of-14 shooting through the first 10 minutes; five Bruins were on the board at the end of the quarter.
Q2 – Londynn Jones caught a hot hand in the second, scoring 10 points during the quarter. Dugalic took a shot in the paint, outrebounded three players in the restricted area and slapped it out to an open Jones for three. Jones continued to attack, earning a pair of free throws on the next drive. She had 13 points at the break.
Q3 – UCLA's best scoring quarter came in the third – despite being outscored 9-4 in the first three minutes, the Bruins bounced back strong to close out the quarter. UCLA went on a 20-5 scoring run over the final 6:45. It was an even effort – Gabriela Jaquez contributed a corner three; the sophomore shot 2-for-3 from distance in the game.
Q4 – UCLA closed out the game, outscoring Senegal 21-14 in the final frame. Charisma Osborne and Emily Bessoir combined for 10 of those points in the fourth as the Bruins took the victory.
