LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team will play Ohio State in this season's CBS Sports Classic, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The nationally-televised doubleheader will take place at the home venue of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks.
UCLA and Ohio State will tip-off in the opening game at approximately 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET). The second game of the doubleheader will feature Kentucky and North Carolina. The two games will be broadcast on The CBS Television Network and available to stream live on Paramount+.
This set of matchups – UCLA and Ohio State, along with Kentucky and North Carolina – was last featured in 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio. Ohio State defeated the Bruins, 77-70, while North Carolina took down Kentucky, 75-63. In a series that began on Dec. 31, 1936, UCLA has compiled a 6-5 all-time record against Ohio State.
Last season, the Bruins tallied a 31-6 overall record (and an 18-2 mark in the Pac-12) and defeated Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic, 63-53, before a crowd of 20,261 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Ohio State posted a 16-19 overall record last season (and a 5-15 mark in the Big Ten) and lost to North Carolina in overtime, 89-84, in the CBS Sports Classic.
Fan travel packages are set to go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 16, allowing fans exclusive early access to secure their seats for the event ahead of the launch of public ticket sales later in the month. Tickets for the general public will go on sale on August 24 (by visiting www.cbssportsclassic.com or www.ticketmaster.com). Official fan travel packages for the CBS Sports Classic will include game tickets, hotel accommodations in downtown Atlanta and in-arena hospitality at State Farm Arena. Fans who register for the CBS Sports Classic ticket alerts will be eligible for an exclusive presale on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
This will mark the first time that Atlanta has served as the host city for the CBS Sports Classic, which was introduced during the 2014-15 season. Throughout the nine-year history of the event, venue hosts have included the United Center in Chicago (2014, 2018), Barclays Center in Brooklyn (2015), T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (2016, 2019, 2021), Smoothie King Center in New Orleans (2017), Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland (2020) and Madison Square Garden in New York (2022).
The CBS Sports Classic annually features UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio State. This quartet of teams has won a combined 26 national championships, with UCLA (11), Kentucky (8) and North Carolina (6) ranking first, second and third, respectively, in NCAA history.
