UCLA graduate midfielder Sunshine Fontes has been selected the Pac-12 Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after becoming the first Pac-12 athlete to score a hat trick this season.
Fontes scored her three goals, including the game-winner, in the Bruins' 4-0 win over Long Beach State on Sept. 7. The hat trick was her second in as many years, and she moved into a tie for third on UCLA's all-time list for career hat tricks with two. The Wahiawa, Hawaii native leads the team in scoring this season with four goals and nine points and has increased her career goals count to 20.
This is Fontes' second career Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award and UCLA's second of the 2023 season.
The Bruins (5-1) will host Pepperdine (2-1-5) on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7pm PT.
