UCLA defensive lineman Laiatu Latu was selected to the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl Midseason All-America Team which was announced on Wednesday. The All-America team was selected by the Senior Bowl Scouting Staff from the best-of-the-best in college football that are eligible for the 2024 Senior Bowl Game.
Latu rates fifth in the nation in sacks (1.0 per game) and is ninth in tackles for loss average per game (1.7) this season. He leads the Bruin team in both categories with a total of 8.5 TFLs and 5.0 sacks. Earlier this season, Latu tied his career best with 3.0 sacks (also at Colorado in 2022) against Coastal Carolina. He has forced two fumbles this season (Coastal Carolina and Washington State) and recorded his first career interception against North Carolina Central. Latu added 2.5 tackles for loss in a win at San Diego State. He has recorded at least one sack in 11 of 18 career games as a Bruin. This year's Bruin defense is rated No. 5 in the nation in total defense and leads the nation in fewest yards allowed per play.
On Saturday, No. 18 UCLA (4-1, 1-1) will travel to play at No. 15 Oregon State (5-1, 2-1) at 5 p.m. in a game which will be broadcast on FOX. The 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl will be played Feb. 3, 2024 in Mobile, Ala.
