LOS ANGELES – Dribble for Victory Over Cancer, featuring appearances by the UCLA men's and women's basketball teams and several courageous pediatric cancer patients, returns to campus Sunday.
UCLA Athletics, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA and the V Foundation have once again united in their common goal to end childhood cancer through the event, which is in its 16th year. Fundraising efforts from Dribble for Victory Over Cancer at UCLA exclusively benefit PCRF and the lifesaving research at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital through the Dick Vitale Fund for Pediatric Cancer at the V Foundation. SEIA is the National Champion Sponsor.
To register for Dribble for Victory Over Cancer at UCLA, CLICK HERE. The cost for adults wishing to participate in person is $25. Children 12 years old and younger are $20. Each in-person participant receives a personalized fundraising page, an official Dribble for Victory Over Cancer event t-shirt and a goodie bag. Virtual options remain available at $40 and $30 to account for shipping of the event t-shirt.
Day-of registration and pre-Dribble festivities, including games and giveaways, start in Drake Stadium at 8:30 a.m. PT. Participants will receive their official welcome at 10 a.m., when the opening ceremonies introduce the honorary captains and set the stage for the morning. Among this year's honorary captains are two-year-old Camilla, two-year-old Lilo and 17-year-old Karson. All have fought cancer at their young ages.
At 10:15 a.m., the course opens, sending dribblers on a one-mile route through campus with Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom the destination. There, dribblers are invited to shoot baskets alongside UCLA basketball student-athletes, friends and family. A closing ceremony set for 11:15 a.m. will be highlighted by presentations to top fundraisers, special awards and an autograph session.
Top individual fundraisers are eligible for prizes, starting with an event basketball at the $150 level. The $250 mark nets an eligible participant a Nike UCLA hat. Four tickets to a UCLA men's basketball game and four tickets to a UCLA women's basketball game will be distributed to an individual who reaches $500. At $1,500, a Nike basketball autographed by UCLA student-athletes and coaches is the reward.
Born Dribble for the Cure in 2008, Dribble for Victory Over Cancer has raised nearly $1.5 million at UCLA alone. Duke (started in 2023), North Carolina (2023) and St. John's (2011) have also joined the cause since UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer John Vallely introduced Dribble at his alma mater.
