November 10, 2023 | Football
UCLA's Laiatu Latu was announced on Friday morning by The Pacific Club IMPACTยฎ Foundation as one of nine semifinalists for The Lott IMPACTยฎ Trophy. The Lott IMPACTยฎ Trophy is awarded annually to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott by making an IMPACTยฎ on and off the field. IMPACTยฎ is an acronym forย Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity. This year's presentation of the Lott IMPACTยฎ Trophy will be the 20th in the award's history.
ย
Latu leads a Bruin defense which ranks 13thย in the nation allowing 294.3 yards per game. Heย ranks third in the nation in both sacks per game (1.22) and tackles for loss per game (1.8) this season. He has at least a half a sack in seven of the nine games this season after recording at least a half sack in eight of the 13 2022 contests.
