Women's Tennis Posts Final Fall Results in Desert

TEMPE, Ariz. โ The UCLA women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule Sunday, with four Bruins taking part in Arizona State's Thunderbird Invitational.
Junior Elise Wagle, sophomore Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and freshmen Ahmani Guichard and Mia Jovic competed for UCLA across the three-day event, with each getting three singles matches and three doubles contests to her name.
Day 1 saw Guichard and Lutkemeyer log perfect days, with both taking care of business against Sun Devils on the singles courts. Guichard got the better of Rachel Hanford 6-3, 6-3, while Lutkemeyer beat Patricija Spaka 7-6(1), 6-2. Guichard and Jovic knocked off Lan Mi and Makenna Thiel of California 6-4 in doubles play, while Lutkemeyer and Wagle defeated Piper Charney and Gala Mesochoritou of Michigan 7-5. Wagle and Jovic dropped singles decisions to Cal's Tiziana-Marie Schomburg and USC's Isabelle Lee, respectively.
Jovic got in the singles win column on Day 2, besting ASU's Natasha Hill 6-1, 6-2. Jovic also paired with Lutkemeyer for a 6-2 win versus Mi and Cami Brown of Cal. Lutkemeyer came up just short opposite Michigan's Lily Jones, falling by a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 score. Guichard (Mesochoiotu) and Wagle (Piper Charney) were also narrowly defeated by Wolverines, but both bounced back to take down Sun Devils Giulia Morlet and Sara Svetac 7-6(8) in doubles play.
Guichard also handed Svetac a loss on Day 3 of singles play, rolling to a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Lutkemeyer retired from her matchup with Grand Canyon's Natasha Puehse, while Jovic and Wagle dropped results to Thiel and Morlet, respectively. On the doubles courts, Jovic and Wagle were overcome by USC's McKenna Koenig and Isabelle Lee, while Guichard and Lutkemeyer took down Golden Bears Mi and Berta Passola Golch by a 7-5 score.
Each of the four competing Bruins finished the fall with at least three singles wins and three doubles victories. Guichard posted a team-high six on the singles courts, while Lutkemeyer's six doubles triumphs led the squad.
