Softball Announces Star-Studded 2024 Signing Class

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA softball program has received six signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) from Kaniya Bragg, Maggie Daniel, Addisen Fisher, Aleena Garcia, Sofia Mujica and Rylee Slimp, as announced Thursday by the Shelly Carlin UCLA Head Softball Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez.
 
Inouye-Perez's 2024 signing class totes three of the top 10 recruits in the country, including the nation's top player Addisen Fisher and No. 3-ranked player and No. 1-ranked catcher Sofia Mujica, according to Extra Innings Softball.
 
"This 2024 signing class will explode onto the scene and continue our long-standing tradition of elite athletes and Olympians," Inouye-Perez said. "The future of UCLA Softball has never been so exciting and anticipated. We have been fortunate to sign the top athletes in our sport who also have the amazing character our program prides itself on. Our class has six of the best players in the country, including the top pitcher in Addisen Fisher and catcher in Sofia Mujica."
 
Inouye-Perez and her staff expanded the breadth of their search for this year's class, inking the program's first players out of the states of Oregon (Fisher) and Alabama (Maggie Daniel).
 
Kaniya Bragg
Infield/Outfield – Garden Grove, Calif. (Pacifica HS)

Accolades & Info: Bragg was a two-time selection to the All-Orange County First Team by the Orange Country Register and All-Empire League Team in 2022 and 2023 … in her junior season in 2023, she hit for a .378 batting average with 28 hits, including six triples, six doubles and three home runs, and scored a team-high 34 runs to lead Pacifica High School to the CIF Southern Section Division I Championship … in her sophomore year in 2022, Bragg hit for a .447 average with 24 hits, including five home runs, five doubles and two triples, and recorded a team-leading 44 runs batted in to help Pacifica to a tie for the Empire League title and a CIF Southern Section Division I quarterfinals appearance … competed for Pacifica softball coach Tony Arduino … also played volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter at Pacifica … plays travel ball for the Lady Dukes located in North Carolina after leaving Firecrackers Premier.

She is a highly decorated standout from Pacifica High School who hits the ball with impressive exit velocity and will be a threat at the plate for the Bruins. Maggie Daniel

Accolades & Info: Daniel is a three-year letterwinner on the varsity softball team at Spain Park High School … named to the Alabama State Writers Association (ASWA) 7A First Team her junior year in 2023 … a two-time selection to both the All-County First Team by the Shelby County Reporter and All-South Metro Team by the Cahaba Sun as a sophomore and junior in 2022 and 2023 … in her junior 2023 season, Daniel hit for a .444 batting average with 55 hits, including 10 home runs and 14 doubles, and 38 runs batted in … in her sophomore season in 2022, Daniel led the area with 15 home runs and 53 runs batted … also recorded a .366 batting average, .820 slugging percentage and 16 doubles that season … honored as a two-time Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) Futures All-American … UCLA's first signee out of Alabama.

Accolades & Info: Mujica, from Granite Hills High School, is the top-ranked catcher in the nation … the CIF San Diego Section record holder for career home runs with 47 and is 13 shy of tying the state record heading into her senior season … led the state with 17 home runs her freshman season in 2021 which tied the CIF San Diego Section single-season record held by Lisa Dodd (University City HS) who attended UCLA from 2004-07 … followed that with back-to-back 15-homer seasons in 2022 and 2023 … three-time All-CIF San Diego Section First Team honoree … as a junior in 2023, Mujica recorded a .457 batting average, 32 hits, 29 runs batted in and 18 runs scored … as a sophomore in 2022, Mujica recorded a .469 batting average, 38 hits, 26 runs scored, 24 runs batted in, three doubles and two triples … as a freshman in 2021, Mujica recorded a .512 batting average, 42 hits, 30 runs batted in, 29 runs scored and eight doubles … plays travel ball for the Northwest Bullets with fellow UCLA signee and battery mate Addisen Fisher.
