The Week In Reviewย ย ย
UCLA is 1-3 over the last week, dropping two of three at home to Washington and falling in a midweek at Cal State Fullerton:
- Jake Brooks delivered 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball and Jack Holman hit a decisive two-run homer in the fourth as UCLA recorded a 5-1 win in Friday's series opener. Holman's roundtripper opened the scoring, and Duce Gourson and Cody Schrier provided RBI doubles in a three-run seventh. Cody Delvecchio and Charles Harrison got the Bruins out of jams in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. Brooks retired the first seven batters of the game, and established season highs in both innings and strikeouts (nine). UW's best chance against him came after back-to-back singles to lead off the fourth, but Brooks sent down the next three batters in order to strand both runners.
- Washington evened up the series on Saturday with a 3-0 win in 10 innings. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie through nine innings, with UCLA allowing just two hits (both singles) during that time. Washington strung together five hits in the 10th for a decisive three-spot. Michael Barnett was a standout for the Bruins, throwing 5 2/3 no-hit innings in his first-career weekend start.ย
- UCLA was edged, 11-10, in a rubber-match shootout on Sunday. The Bruins led the game, 3-2, through five innings, but Washington tied it up in the sixth before posting seven runs in the seventh and another in the eighth. The Bruins fought back in the late innings, with Carson Yates and JonJon Vaughns hitting three-run homers to cut the deficit to two, but UCLA ultimately left the bags full in the eighth. ย
- For the series, UCLA and Washington were tied in runs scored (15-15) while the Bruins had a 4.18 to 5.00 edge in team ERA
- Cal State Fullerton posted three crooked numbers early, ultimately recording a 15-5 win over UCLA on Tuesday. The Bruins received notable offensive performances from Knox Loposer (2-4, two doubles), Malakhi Knight (2-4, double, two RBIs), and Jack Holman (solo homer).

The Bruins produced all their runs in the first inning with a rally highlighted by a two-run Duce Gourson double that opened the scoring. ย
