LOS ANGELES – Redshirt seniors Anna Vines and Megan Faraimo were selected to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District softball team.
The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. These are the first recognitions in Vines and Faraimo's careers.
With their selection, Vines and Faraimo advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America voting, with Division I winners to be announced June 6.
The Pac-12 Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year Faraimo is a political science major with a 3.69 cumulative GPA. An All-American in the circle, Faraimo leads the Pac-12 and ranks second in the nation with 29 wins. She owns a 29-2 record with a Pac-12-leading 226 strikeouts.
Vines, an education major in UCLA's graduate school, is having the best season of her career. The Bruins' second baseman received the first All-Pac-12 recognition of her career this season as a Third-Team selection. She is sporting a career-best .348 batting average and was one of four UCLA players to bat above .400 in conference play, ranking third with a .408 mark.
Vines, Faraimo and the No. 2 seed UCLA softball team open the NCAA Tournament this Friday at Easton Stadium in the Los Angeles Regional against Grand Canyon at 5 p.m. (PT). The contest is available for streaming on ESPN+.
