Bessoir, Sontag to Represent Germany in FIBA Women’s Eurobasket 2023

LOS ANGELES – Emily Bessoir and Lina Sontag are set to compete for Germany at the FIBA Women's Eurobasket 2023, which runs from June 15-25 in Tel Aviv, Israel and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Germany will play in Group C against Great Britain, France and Slovenia; the group phase will start on June 15 with Germany facing France in Ljubljana. Each team will play the three others in its group during the first phase of the tournament. The group winner will move directly to the quarterfinals, while teams in second and third in each group will play a single-elimination game to determine the final four quarterfinal participants. The top five EuroBasket finishers, along with 2024 Olympic hosts France, will earn spots at upcoming FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
The Bruin duo comprise two of the three current Pac-12 student-athletes representing international teams; they're joined by Stanford junior Elena Bosgana on Greece.
FIBA Women's AmeriCup & U19 Women's World Cup
In other upcoming international competition, UCLA's Lauren Betts and Charisma Osborne and USC's Rayah Marshall are three of eight athletes that were selected to the 2023 USA Women's AmeriCup Team. Five finalists, including Oregon's Chance Gray, will return for AmeriCup training camp, which begins June 22 in Colorado Springs, to compete for the remaining roster spots. The complete 12-member roster will be announced before the team goes to the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup July 1-9 in León, Mexico. That team is led by Washington State head coach Kamie Ethridge.
Oregon's Grace VanSlooten, Stanford's Talana Lepolo, and UCLA's Londynn Jones and Kiki Rice made the 2023 USA Women's U19 National Team following three days of trials earlier this month. That team will reconvene for training camp in Colorado Springs on July 2 before heading to Madrid for the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup, which runs from July 15-23.
