Women's Soccer Tops Preseason National, Conference Polls
August 14, 2023 | Women's Soccer
The defending NCAA champion UCLA women's soccer team will begin the 2023 season atop the national and conference preseason coaches polls.
In the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, the Bruins are the unanimous choice at No. 1, earning all eight first-place votes to grab their second-ever preseason No. 1 ranking and first since 2014. UCLA has been ranked No. 1 in the national poll since Sept. 6, 2022. The Bruins will face three teams in 2023 who are ranked in the Top 25 in No. 11 Stanford, No. 13 BYU and No. 22 USC, along with two others receiving votes (UC Irvine and Georgia).
The Bruins earned top billing in the Pac-12 coaches poll for the second time in the last three years, receiving nine first-place votes and 119 total points. Stanford, the reigning conference champions, nabbed the other three first-place votes and rank second overall in the Pac-12 with 113 points. USC, California and Washington State round out the Top 5.
The Bruins open the season on Thursday, Aug. 17 against Georgia at Wallis Annenberg Stadium at 7pm. Tickets to that contest and all regular season home matches are on sale now at www.uclabruins.com/tickets.
