Fontes Selected UCLA Student-Athlete of Week, presented by Ready

Midfielder Sunshine Fontes of the UCLA women's soccer team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Sept. 4-10.

Fontes, a graduate student from Wahiawa, Hawaii, scored three goals, including the game-winner, in the 4-0 win over Long Beach State. She had three shots in the 3-0 win at CSUN. Her hat trick against the Beach was her second as a Bruin, and she now ranks third all-time at UCLA with two career hat tricks. Her other hat trick came against CSUN on Aug. 25, 2022. Fontes leads the team in scoring this season with four goals (tied for 3rd in Pac-12) and nine points (tied for 4th in Pac-12), and she has recorded 20 career goals.
