Six Bruins to Rep U.S. in the Pan American Cup

Five Bruins --- setter Andrew Rowan, libero Troy Gooch, hitters Zach Rama and Ethan Champlin, along with middle blocker Merrick McHenry --- will represent the U.S. Men's Volleyball Team in this week's NORCECA Pan American Cup Final Six tournament which is being held in Edmonton, Canada from Sept. 19-24. A sixth Bruin, UCLA assistant coach Brandon Taliaferro, is a member of the U.S. coaching staff. The U.S. squad will be challenged by teams from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the host nation, Canada.

Champlin, Gooch, and McHenry played earlier this summer on the U.S. Men's Team that placed fifth at the Pan American Cup. Rama and Rowan were members of the U.S. Men's U21 Team earlier this summer.

Cuba is the current Men's Final Six Champion; Mexico won the first edition in 2021. In both editions, Canada has finished second and the United States has taken third. The round-robin preliminary round will run from Sept. 19-23. The top two teams will compete for the gold medal on Sept. 24, third and fourth will play for the bronze medal, and the fifth and sixth place teams will play for fifth.
