UCLA's Chae Campbell and Katelyn Rosen have been selected the Pac-12 Gymnastics Specialist and Freshman/Newcomer of the Week, respectively, after their strong performances in the Bruins' 197.825-196.300 win over Washington.
Campbell earns her second career Specialist of the Week honor of her career and seventh overall weekly award after contributing a pair of 9.95 event victories in UCLA's home opener. Her 9.95 on her Yurchenko layout full vault was her second perfect score in four meets this season and the seventh of her career. She also scored a season-high 9.95 on floor exercise to tie for first place, receiving a 10.0 from one of the two judges. Additionally, Campbell's 9.85 leadoff score on bars was good for fourth place. Her marks contributed to UCLA's season-high overall team total and to the Bruins' season-best team scores on vault (49.4), bars (49.3) and floor (49.625). Campbell now ranks No. 5 in the nation on vault and No. 24 on floor.
Rosen made her all-around debut on Saturday, placing third with a score of 39.250. She set a new career-high on vault with a second-place mark of 9.9, tied for second place on bars with a 9.875 and tied her career-best on beam with a 9.85. Rosen's strong vault and bars performances came at crucial times, as she immediately followed a fall on both events and hit in those clutch situations. Her scores contributed to UCLA's season-best team score of 197.825 and to team season-high totals on vault (49.4), bars (49.3), beam (49.5) and floor (49.625).
Joining the Bruin duo as Pac-12 weekly award-winners were California's Mya Lauzon (Gymnast of the Week) and Stanford's Porsche Trinidad (Coaches Choice).
No. 11 UCLA will next compete on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2pm against No. 18 Arizona in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
