Bruins Wrap Up First Day at NCAA Championships

UCLA had a pair of top-25 individual finishes on the second day of the 2024 NCAA Championships.

ATHENS, Ga. – UCLA had a pair of top-25 individual finishes on the second day of the 2024 NCAA Championships.

Sophomore Rosie Murphy and junior Paige MacEachern were the first Bruins to hit the pool on Thursday, taking part in the 200 IM on Thursday morning. Murphy took 22nd place with a time of 1:56.32, while MacEachern finished 47th in 1:58.16.

Other Bruins in action on Thursday were Lauren Hallaselka and Zoe Jespersgaard in the 1-meter dive competition. Hallaselka, who won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at the Zone E Diving Championships, finished 25th in the 1-meter dive on Thursday afternoon with a score of 260.10. Jespersgaard also took part for the Bruins, finishing 51st with a score of 188.60.

Competition at NCAAs continue on Friday with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter diving, and 400 medley relay. Prelims start at 7:00 a.m. PT, followed by finals at 3:00 p.m. PT. The Bruins will have competitors in the 400 IM, 100 breast and 3-meter dive.
