NORMAN, Okla. – UCLA golfers Zoe Antoinette Campos and Omar Morales were two of 48 collegians selected to rosters for the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup on Tuesday, as announced live on the Golf Channel. The international collegiate event is set to take place at Lahinch Golf Club in Lahinch, Ireland from July 5-7.
UCLA is one of 12 schools with multiple players listed to the teams.
Morales, a native of Puebla, Mexico, was named to the International Team. He is the sixth UCLA men's golfer to compete at the event and first since Pedro Figueriedo (Portugal) and Pontus Widegren (Sweden) who both competed for the International Team in 2013. Widegren also played in the 2010-2012 renditions of the event. Patrick Cantlay (2011), Erik Flores (2009) and Kevin Chappell (2008) all competed for Team USA.
UCLA men's head coach Armen Kirakossian, who was an assistant for Team USA at the Palmer Cup in 2020, has now seen six of his golfers be selected to a Palmer Cup team in his coaching career. Kirakossian helped five golfers reach the stage over his five seasons at Arizona State.
Campos, from Valencia, Calif., will be making her second consecutive appearance on Team USA. She helped the United States win the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup last summer, 32-28, at Lauren Valley Golf Club and was one of just three golfers and the only Team USA woman to finish undefeated (2-0-2).
Campos is one of five UCLA women's golfers to have competed at the Palmer Cup. Others include Mariel Galdiano (2018, 2019), Emma Spitz (2020, 2021), Patty Tavatanakit (2018) and Lilia Vu (2018).
