CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Junior Zoe Antoinette Campos on the UCLA women's golf team was named a First Team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), it was announced Friday morning. Junior Caroline Canales also earned WGCA Honorable Mention All-American honors for the first time in her career.
The two Bruins helped guide UCLA to its fifth NCAA runner-up finish in program history on Wednesday, May 22 earlier this week.
Campos was one of 12 collegiate women's golfers to be named a First Team All-American. This marks the second straight season Campos as hauled in First Team honors. Campos is the 10th golfer in program history to earn multiple First Team All-American accolades.
Campos, who was also named to the ANNIKA Award Final Watch List and All-Pac-12 First Team, set or matched several UCLA single-season records in 2023-24. Her four medals are tied for the most in a single season while her 70.71 scoring average is good for third-best, trailing only Lilia Vu and Bronte Law. Additionally, Campos' 21 rounds under par established a new program single-season record, passing the previous mark of 20 set by Vu, Law and Alison Lee. The Valencia, Calif. native's nine top-10 finishes are tied for third in UCLA's annals as well. Campos was the only Bruin to have all 32 of her rounds count toward the team score.
Campos concludes her season as the fifth-ranked amateur women's golfer on the globe and top-ranked American woman in the Women's Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
Canales was one of UCLA's steadiest golfers in the lineup with a 72.58 scoring average – the best mark in her three-year collegiate career. The Calabasas, Calif. product closed the season with four top 10s, seven top 20s and a strong showing in the match play portion of the NCAA Championships. In the Match Play Semifinals versus Oregon, Canales won with a 7&5 victory to become the first UCLA player to clinch an NCAA Championship match 6 up or better. Canales also beat her Stanford opponent in the Match Play Final, Paula Martin Sampedro, with a 2 up victory.
Canales' final shot of the season was a hole out eagle on the 18th to clinch her match.
