The UCLA women's soccer team begins its 2024 season with an exhibition match against LMU on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. PT at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. Admission is free.
The Bruins, who are ranked No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, host the Lions five days ahead of the regular-season opener on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Long Beach State.
UCLA returns seven starters from last year's squad that finished the year 16-2-1 and won its 14th conference title with a 10-0-1 league record. Among the starters returning are All-American and two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year Lilly Reale, All-Pacific Region honoree Quincy McMahon, and all-conference selections Sofia Cook, Ayo Oke, Jayden Perry, Sunshine Fontes and Lexi Wright. Head coach Margueritte Aozasa welcomes 10 freshmen and four transfers to the team, including a pair of United Soccer Coaches All-Region players in goalkeeper Ryan Campbell (Stanford) and midfielder Meg Boade (Northwestern).
LMU finished 2023 with a 6-10-3 record and was led in scoring by Jennessa Groves (4 goals, 1 assist) and Kylie Dobbs (4 goals). The Lions are coached by Chris Chamides.
