Women's Tennis Set for Regional Championships in San Diego

SAN DIEGO โ Seven members of the UCLA women's tennis team are competing on the campuses of the University of San Diego and San Diego State starting Thursday, when the ITA Division I Women's Southwest Regional Championships begin.
Joining the Bruins in the field will be student-athletes from Arizona, Arizona State, CSUN, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego and USC.
Mia Jovic gets UCLA started Thursday in singles qualifying, as she is scheduled to meet Angelina Mihajlovic of GCU at 9 a.m. PT. Jovic's opening match will be played at USD's Skip & Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. Other contest will be held at SDSU's Aztec Tennis Center. Live streaming of Thursday's matches will be available HERE. Play continues through Oct. 22.
Also set to represent the Bruins later in the week are Olivia Center, Kate Fakih, Bianca Fernandez, Ahmani Guichard, Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and Elise Wagle.
The two singles finalists from each region (26) will qualify for November's NCAA singles tournament. Meanwhile, the doubles champion from each region (13) will earn a spot in the NCAA doubles draw.
