Women's Tennis Sends Five to NCAA Individuals

WACO, Texas โ UCLA women's tennis will be represented by five student-athletes in the NCAA Championships individual tournaments, set to begin Tuesday at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center.
Beginning this year, individual competitions will occur in the fall rather than the spring. It is the start of a two-year pilot program, with team championships remaining in the spring.
Three Bruins โ Kate Fakih, Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and Elise Wagle โ are in the singles field. The combinations of Wagle/Kimmi Hance and Fakih/Olivia Center will be playing doubles. Hance and Wagle are veterans of NCAA doubles play, while the others are making their first appearances.
The team of Hance and Wagle, seeded first for doubles, earned its spot as the ITA All-American Championships runner-up. The all-freshman combination of Center and Fakih, seeded No. 5-8, qualified as the ITA West Sectional Championships doubles winner. Fakih, Lutkemeyer and Wagle all punched their tickets as singles semifinalists at ITA West Sectionals.
