Women's Tennis Set to Start Sectionals Play Across Town

LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA women's tennis team will try to add to its list of NCAA Championships individual participants when competition starts Thursday at the ITA Sectional Championships. West Section play will be held at USC's David X. Marks Tennis Stadium and continue through Sunday.
Representing the Bruins will be Olivia Center, Kate Fakih, Bianca Fernandez, Ahmani Guichard, Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and Elise Wagle.

Fakih, Fernandez, Guichard, Lutkemeyer and Wagle have their opening-round singles matches set for Thursday.

The doubles tandem of No. 28 Guichard and Lutkemeyer meets Wildcats Castillo-Meza and Martyna Ostrzygalo in the first round. Center and Fakih take on No. 44 Parker Fry and Maia Sung of USC.
Six singles players from each section (24) โ four semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners -- will qualify for the NCAA singles tournament. Meanwhile, the top three doubles finishers from each section (12) will earn spots in the NCAA doubles draw.
