No. 18 UCLA Takes Down Prairie View A&M, 111-75

December 17, 2024 | Men's Basketball

LOS ANGELES – The No. 18-ranked UCLA men's basketball team cruised past Prairie View A&M, 111-75, in a nonconference game on Tuesday night inside Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.

The Bruins (10-1, 2-0) earned their ninth consecutive victory after recording their highest single-game point total of the season (111). Six Bruins finished in double figures, with Dylan Andrews leading the way with a season-high 21 points. Tyler Bilodeau (18 points), Eric Dailey Jr. (14 points), Kobe Johnson (12 points), and Trent Perry (11 points) also enjoyed double-digit performances.

This was the first time UCLA eclipsed the century mark since Nov. 23, 2022, when the Bruins defeated Pepperdine, 100-53. UCLA's team recorded its most points in one game since an 114-77 win over Long Beach State in the fourth game of the 2016-17 season (Nov. 20, 2016, played in Pauley Pavilion).

UCLA achieved season-highs in both assists (26) and made field goals (36) in the team's most efficient shooting display of the year (59.0 percent). The Bruins did not trail at any point in Tuesday's contest.

Andrews was 8-of-12 from the floor and sunk three of his four attempts from 3-point range. He also handed out six assists.

Despite only logging four minutes in the second half, Bilodeau notched his eighth double-digit haul of the year, going 5-of-6 from field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line in his 18-point performance.

Johnson led all players with seven assists to match his career-high. The senior added 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Eric Dailey Jr. contributed 14 points, including two three-pointers, while freshman Trent Perry had a perfect shooting night, tallying 11 points by making both of his field goal attempts and all six of his free throws.

UCLA used Bilodeau's dominance in the paint to race to an early lead as the forward completed three 'and-ones' in just over five minutes of action. He paced the Bruins offensively in the first half, registering 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting while making all seven of his foul shots.

The Bruins also found success from the perimeter when Andrews knocked down a 3-pointer before Dailey Jr. drained a pair of his own from well beyond the arc.

At the halfway point in the first half, Lazar Stefanovic reached the 1,000-point plateau. He entered the contest having tallied 998 career points between his season at Utah and UCLA. Stefanovic concluded his night with nine points in just 13 minutes of playing time.

The Panthers remained within striking distance after a 15-6 run in just over three minutes, connecting on six of seven shot attempts to cut the deficit to single digits.

Andrews caught fire in the dying minutes of the half, scoring seven of UCLA's last nine points to give his team 53-36 cushion at the break.

The Bruins found its rhythm on the offensive end after emerging for the second half, nailing four of their next five attempts from the perimeter to fuel an 18-3 run to extend the lead beyond 30 points.

In the last 3:31, UCLA produced a 9-0 run, highlighted by a Dominick Harris 3-pointer in the closing stages.

Andrews paced the offense with 11 points in the second half, and Perry added nine. Aday Mara scored seven of his nine points in the second frame, finishing just one point short of a double-double after equaling his career-high of 10 rebounds.

UCLA's next game is against North Carolina on Dec. 21 at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., with a tip-off scheduled for 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
