Five Bruins Selected to All-Region Team
December 05, 2024 | Women's Soccer
Five members of the UCLA Women's Soccer team have earned All-North Region honors by the United Soccer Coaches. Receiving first-team acclaim are graduate goalkeeper Ryan Campbell, senior defender Lilly Reale and junior midfielder Sofia Cook. Second-team honorees are senior defender Jayden Perry and senior forward Quincy McMahon.
ย
Campbell led the nation in shutouts with 16, and her goals against average of 0.41 ranked fifth in the nation and first in the Big Ten. The graduate transfer made her mark on UCLA's record books in just one season, with her 16 shutouts ranking No. 8 in the career shutouts list and No. 2 on the single-season list. Additionally, her 0.41 goals against average ranks No. 4 on UCLA's single-season list and No. 3 on the career charts. This is Campbell's third all-region honor and second consecutive first-team award. She was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2024 and a three-time all-conference honoree, including the 2023 Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year.
ย
Cook earns her first career all-region recognition. A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Cook tied for the team lead in goals scored with four, with three of those goals being game-winners. In 2024, she played in 17 games and made 13 starts. She was an all-conference selection as a sophomore and named to the Pac-12's All-Freshman team in her first season.
ย
Reale becomes a four-time first-team all-region selection. The MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist earned her third consecutive conference Defender of the Year award after leading the Bruin defense to a nation-leading 16 shutouts and 0.41 goals against average. She also provided one goal and two assists to the Bruins from the center back position. Top Drawer Soccer rated her the No. 1 player in the nation in its Midseason Top 100. Reale is a two-time All-American, four-time first-team all-conference selection and the 2022 Honda Sport Award winner.
ย
Perry receives her first all-region nod in her final season. The two-time all-conference selection helped the Bruins secure a nation-leading 16 shutouts and 0.41 goals against average. She started in 22 games and scored three goals with one assist. Two of her three goals were game-winners, including her final goal, a penalty kick in overtime in the NCAA First Round win over Cal Baptist. Perry was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Big Ten Tournament, which the Bruins swept through with three shutouts in three games.
ย
McMahon earns her second career all-region honor. She was selected to the second team as a defender last season. The Bruin co-captain led UCLA in scoring this season with 12 points and in assists with six. A natural outside back, she made her first start at forward on Oct. 5 against Washington and scored the game-winning goal, one of her two game-winners this season. She was one of just two Bruin players along with Campbell to start in all 24 games, and she led all field players with 2,078 minutes played. McMahon also earned second-team All-Big Ten acclaim as well as the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. ย
