No. 7 UCLA Defeated by No. 4 Stanford, 80-60

STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 7 UCLA women's basketball team fell to No. 4 Stanford 80-60 on Sunday afternoon at Maples Pavilion.
After an 11-2 run by Stanford (20-3, 9-2 Pac-12) to start the game, the Bruins (17-4, 6-4 Pac-12) struggled to find a rhythm to make up the deficit. UCLA shot 29.4% from the field and 32% from the 3-point line; Stanford finished the matchup shooting 63.5% from the field and 62.5% from the 3-point line.
Sophomore Londynn Jones and graduate student Charisma Osborne led the Bruins with 13 points apiece. Jones shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Osborne scored the first 10 points of the game for UCLA before another Bruin found the basket.
Cameron Brink led The Cardinal and the game, putting up 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field, and was 3-for-5 from the free throw line. In addition, Brink had 19 rebounds making this her 4th straight game with a double-double. KiKi Iriafen (18 points, 7 rebounds) and Hannah Jump (10 points) also finished in double figures.
The Bruins fought to the end, going on a 7-0 run to end the third quarter. The run was started by a skillful layup by sophomore Christeen Iwuala with 1:06 on the clock, followed by a fast-break layup from Gabriela Jaquez. Jones sunk a three-point banger to put the score at 43-66 going into the fourth quarter. UCLA led the fourth quarter with 19 points, but the Bruins were unable to close the gap between the teams.
The Bruins continue Pac-12 play on Friday, Feb. 9, when Arizona visits Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. The matchup will be televised on the Pac-12 Network, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. PT.
