
UCLA Falls in Arizona State Finale

LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA baseball team absorbed a 13-1 loss to Arizona State in Sunday's series finale at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The result finished off a weekend sweep for the Sun Devils (20-21, 10-11 Pac-12). The Bruins moved to 13-24, 6-15.
Junior shortstop Cody Schrier, freshman first baseman Mulivai Levu, and freshman third baseman Roch Cholowsky had two hits apiece for the Bruins.
Cholowsky doubled home Levu in the second inning to account for the Bruins' lone run. Senior right fielder JonJon Vaughns also had a would-be three-run home run robbed by ASU center fielder Isaiah Jackson in the eighth.
The Bruins employed five pitchers in the contest, with graduate righty Rashad Ruff ending up as the standout. The Coppin State transfer went 3 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, a single. He also struck out three.
Freshman outfielder Phoenix Call singled past ASU second baseman Ethan Mendoza in the ninth for his first-career hit.
UCLA returns to action on Tuesday night, wrapping up a four-game homestand by hosting UC Irvine at 6 p.m. PT. The contest will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.
