No. 1 UCLA Extends Winning Streak to 13 Duals

SEATTLE -- No. 1 UCLA (22-4) posted a 4-1 win over No. 18 Arizona (16-7) on Saturday to conclude play at the Pac-12 North Invitational at Alki Beach Park. It marked the 13th-consecutive win for the Bruins, who improved their all-time record to 12-2 against the Wildcats with their 10th-straight win in the series.
 
Sophomore Maggie Boyd and graduate student Lexy Denaburg got the Bruins on the board first with an easy 21-8, 21-13 win on court one over Arizona's Abby Russell and Olivia McElroy. The Bruin duo improved to 22-4 on the year (all on court one).

The Bruins quickly went up 2-0 after senior Peri Brennan and graduate student Devon Newberry defeated the Wildcats' Annie Kost and Hope Shannon, 21-19, 21-14. The Bruin tandem improved to 23-3 on the season (all on court two).

UCLA's pair of redshirt freshman Ensley Alden and junior Natalie Myszkowski clinched the dual victory with a 21-17, 21-11 win on court five over Arizona's Ashlyn Zilliken and Miranda Erro. The duo improved to 22-1 overall (all on court five).

Graduate student Jaden Whitmarsh and senior Tessa Van Winkle made it 4-0 Bruins with a hard-fought 23-21, 21-19 win on court four over the Wildcats' Jess Horwath and Kate Phillips. The Bruin pair improved to 18-7 on the year (9-2 on court four and 9-5 on court three).

Arizona's Kylee Fitzsimmons and Grace Cook scored the lone point for the Wildcats in a tight affair with graduate student Rileigh Powers and redshirt freshman Kenzie Brower 22-20, 17-21, 15-12 on court three. This was just the second time this Bruin tandem have played together, falling to 1-1 on the season.
 
UP NEXT: The Bruins host No. 9 Long Beach State (11:00 a.m. PT) and CSUN (3:00 p.m. PT) on Senior Day this coming Tuesday, April 9 at Mapes Beach. The senior day festivities will take place between the two duals, or immediately following the Bruins' bout with the Beach.
