McHenry Named MPSF Player of the Week

ย UCLA'sย Merrick McHenryย was named on Monday as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) / Molten Men's Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week. The redshirt senior registered 15 kills on 29 swings, with two errors, to hit .586 for the weekend as UCLA moved into first place in the MPSF with a pair of wins over No. 3 Grand Canyon.

McHenry tied his season-highs with 14 kills and three aces in the five-set decision over GCU on Saturday. Two of those three aces came in the fifth set during a service run which produced five straight Bruin points to break a 5-all tie. McHenry's total of 18.0 points in that contest was also a season-high mark. He now has hit at least .400 in each of his last 21 matches this season.
The Bruins will battle Concordia-Irvine in a pair of MPSF matches this week to close out the regular season. UCLA travels to Irvine for Thursday's contest. On Saturday, CUI comes to Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Senior Night for a 7 p.m. match.

In other news, UCLA received votes as the first-place team in the new AVCA Coaches Poll which also came out on Monday. The Bruins were listed second overall again this week.
