Men's Basketball to Face North Carolina in CBS Sports Classic

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team will play North Carolina in the 2024 CBS Sports Classic, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21, at Madison Square Garden in New York. This will mark UCLA's second trip to Madison Square Garden in three seasons.
UCLA and North Carolina are scheduled to tip-off in the day's opening game at approximately 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET, in New York). The second game of the doubleheader will feature Ohio State and Kentucky. The two games will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live on Paramount+.
Madison Square Garden also served as the host for the 2022 CBS Sports Classic. UCLA defeated Kentucky, 63-53, in the second of two games that afternoon. North Carolina recorded an 89-84 overtime win over Ohio State in the opening matchup. UCLA has compiled a 15-12 all-time record in 27 contests at Madison Square Garden.
The Bruins have not faced North Carolina since a Sweet 16 matchup in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. North Carolina secured a 73-66 win over UCLA at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. UCLA most recently faced the Tar Heels in the CBS Sports Classic during the 2019-20 season. North Carolina downed UCLA, 74-64, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 21, 2019.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase official travel packages for the CBS Sports Classic, which will include game tickets for both contests of the doubleheader and hotel accommodations near Madison Square Garden. Fans travel packages are set to go on sale in August, allowing fans exclusive early access to secure their seats for the event ahead of the launch of public ticket sales. Tickets for the general public will go on sale later in August.

Madison Square Garden is the seventh different venue to serve as a host for the CBS Sports Classic, having already done so in 2022. Throughout this event's 10-year history, the other six venues have included the United Center in Chicago (2014, 2018), Barclays Center in Brooklyn (2015), T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (2016, 2019, 2021), Smoothie King Center in New Orleans (2017), Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland (2020) and State Farm Arena in Atlanta (2023).
The CBS Sports Classic annually features UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio State. This quartet of teams has won a combined 26 national championships, with UCLA (11), Kentucky (8) and North Carolina (6) ranking first, second and third, respectively, in NCAA history.
