COLUMBUS, Ohio – The UCLA men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 3 Ohio State Friday evening at Ty Tucker Tennis Center.

The Bruins (8-8, 6-2 in Big Ten play) got a doubles win from the pair of Alexander Hoogmartens and Giacomo Revelli, but were unable to pick up a point. Will Jansen clinched the overall win, joining Jack Anthrop and Brandon Carpico in contributing to the Buckeyes' (19-2, 8-0) total.

The 89th-ranked tandem of Jansen and Aidan Kim registered a 6-1 victory against Rudy Quan and Aadarsh Tripathi to establish an Ohio State advantage in doubles play. UCLA answered on the top court, with Hoogmartens and Revelli overcoming a break of serve out of the gate to beat Carpico and Nikita Filin 6-3. A first-game break proved all Buckeyes Alexander Bernard and Alex Fuchs needed on Court 3, though, sealing the doubles point with a 6-4 result over Gianluca Ballotta and Emon van Loben Sels.

UCLA claimed one singles first set, but No. 84 van Loben Sels' Court 2 match was left unfinished. No. 34 Quan answered a first-set tiebreaker loss with a 6-0 second versus No. 60 Bernard before the top-court contest was abandoned.

No. 89 Anthrop got scoring started on Court 4, handing Hoogmartens a 6-1, 6-3 defeat. Revelli forced a tiebreaker on Court 6, but Carpico edged him out in a 6-0, 7-6(5) decision. Another second-set tiebreaker decided the match, as Jansen downed Bigun 6-3, 7-6(7).

The Bruins return to action Sunday, when they visit Penn State. First serve from Sarni Tennis Center is scheduled for 8 a.m. PT.
