LOS ANGELES – Seven former UCLA softball players and three current staff members will begin the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) on Saturday. Jadelyn Allchin, Maya Brady, Megan Faraimo and Sharlize Palacios will play for the Talons, Bubba Nickles-Camarena and Delanie Wisz will play for the Bandits and Rachel Garcia will play for the Volts.
The Talons and Bandits will open the season tomorrow at 12 p.m. (PT) at The Stadium at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Ill. on MLB Network. The Volts and Blaze will follow with a 4:30 p.m. (PT) first pitch at Wilkins Stadium in Wichita, Kan., also broadcast on MLB Network.
Several members from the UCLA softball program will serve key leadership roles in the AUSL. The Mark Kalmansohn UCLA Associate Head Softball Coach Lisa Fernandez is the general manager for the Talons. UCLA Director of Administration Kirk Walker and Director of Player Development & Data Analytics Will Oldham are assistant coaches on the Talons' staff. UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer and current San Diego State head coach Stacey Nuveman-Deniz is the head coach for the Bandits. Two-time Olympic medalist and UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer Natasha Watley is serving the league in an advisory role and will also be an analyst on several AUSL broadcasts.
Earlier this month, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced it will be investing in the AUSL and softball at all levels. Along with MLB's investment, 16 games including the Championship Series on July 22-23 will be aired on ESPN2 or ESPNU. Five games will be aired exclusively on the MLB Network with over 30 games available to stream for free on MLB.com and MLB.TV.
The Bruins' seven professional players lead all NCAA Division I programs in the new league.
The AUSL will travel to 10 different cities this year before each team having a home city in 2026. The league will run from June 7 through July 24 with the Championship Series taking place on July 22-23 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. For the full schedule and more information, visit theausl.com.
