CHENGDU, China – UCLA softball standouts Maya Brady, Ally Carda, Megan Faraimo, Rachel Garcia and Bubba Nickles-Camarena helped lead the U.S. Softball Women's National Team to a fourth straight World Games title on Sunday at Xindu Better City Softball Arena in Chengdu, China.
The United States went 5-0 over the five-day competition, defeating Chinese Taipei, the Netherlands and China in pool play, before earning a 10-inning 7-6 victory over Japan in the semifinals and a 5-0 win over Chinese Taipei in the gold medal game. Team USA outscored opponents 32-6 and posted a .344 team batting average.
Pitcher Megan Faraimo, who played for the AUSL champion Talons during the league's inaugural season in 2025, tossed a shutout in the gold medal game, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 10. Faraimo was honored as the top pitcher at The World Games on the All-World Team after giving up only three hits over 12.0 scoreless innings for Team USA.
Brady, who started all five games in either right field or as the designated player, went a combined 5-for-15 with a solo home run in a 8-1 victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Garcia and Carda teamed up for a 7.0-inning shutout in The World Games opening win over Chinese Taipei on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Garcia started in the circle for Team USA's pivotal semifinal contest against rival Japan, going 7.1 innings with 11 strikeouts.
It took three extra innings for the U.S. to outlast Japan and reach the gold medal game. Oklahoma alumna Tiare Jennings came up clutch with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th. A star for the Volts of the AUSL, Jennings drove in three runs in the semifinal contest and was named the World Games MVP.
