ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior Meghan Royal and sophomores Maye Huang and Angela Liu were named to the Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Players to Watch list, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Liu enters her second campaign after leading the Bruins last season with a 73.28 scoring average, four top 20s and two top 10s in her eight stroke play tournaments and 25 rounds of action as a true freshman. Liu was UCLA's top finisher in four of her seven starts, including the final two events of the season at NCAA Regionals (+1, 8th) and the NCAA Championships (+2, T-24th).
Huang, who enrolled at UCLA in Winter 2025, competed in six of the Bruins' seven spring season events. She logged two top 20s and registered her best finish as an individual competitor at the Bruin Wave Invitational where she tied for 11th at +7 (77-71-75). Huang's other top 20 came at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional, helping punch UCLA's ticket to a second straight NCAA Championships with T-18th placement at +4.
Royal is the lone senior on the Bruins' 2025-26 squad. She enters her final season in Westwood after having helped UCLA to back-to-back NCAA Championship appearances, including a runner-up finish as a sophomore in 2023-24. Last season, Royal recorded a 74.74 scoring average over nine tournaments and 27 rounds. She finished her junior year on a high note posting her two lowest rounds of the season in the final 36 holes of the NCAA Championships with a -4, 68 and -2, 70 as a substitute.
The Bruins completed their first competition of the season overseas at the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League Tournament in Mishima, Japan on Sept. 5. UCLA placed runner-up with a score of -2, 566 in the international field featuring schools from three different continents.
UCLA's next competition is at the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Glen View Club in Golf, Ill., scheduled for Sept. 29-30.
