UCLA Finishes Up at Spokane Sports Showcase

SPOKANE, Wash. – The UCLA track and field team competed for the first time in the 2025 indoor season on Friday afternoon at the Spokane Sports Showcase at The Podium.
The Bruins totaled six event wins on the day and 19 podium finishes. Several UCLA student-athletes hit PRs and entered the program's indoor all-time top-10 lists.
TRACK EVENT RESULTS
Elijah Major and Taylor Snaer both reached the finals of the 60m dash for the Bruins. Snaer (7.37) set a PR and posted the No. 4 mark in indoor school history to finish fourth overall, while Major (6.74) set a PR of his own and moved up to No. 7 in the program's record books. He placed seventh overall in the final.
A quartet of Bruins reached the final in the women's 60m hurdles, highlighted by a fourth-place result from Celeste Polzonetti (8.29) that represented the No. 9 mark in program lore. Di'Niko Bates was the fifth-place finisher on the men's side at 7.86, good for fourth all-time at UCLA.
Asha Fletcher was UCLA's top performer in the 200m, placing runner-up at 24.03. That time put her in a tie for tenth place all-time at UCLA.
Gabriel Clement led the Bruin men in the 400m, taking second at 46.91. That put him at No. 7 in the UCLA all-time top-10. The Bruin women went 2-3-4 on the women's side, led by Kayla McBride (54.03) who snuck into the final place in UCLA's all-time top-10.
Rose Pittman brought home an event win for UCLA in the women's 600m, completing that race in 1:32.60.
Newcomer Bennett Booth-Genthe notched the Bruins' first individual win of the day, winning the 1000m with a time of 2:24.61. Tristan Amell (2:25.37) was right behind him to take second. Kaho Cichon led UCLA on the women's side, finishing runner-up at 2:56.26.
UCLA's runners closed the day with a second-place finish in the women's 4x400 relay (3:38.67).
FIELD EVENT RESULTS
A number of Bruin newcomers had standout efforts in their UCLA debuts.
Freshman Valentina Fakrogha won the women's high hump with UCLA's best mark since the 2018 season (1.77m, 5-9.75).
Fellow frosh Karson Gordon also notched an event win for UCLA, recording a mark of 15.82m (51-11.00) in the triple jump to enter the all-time top-10 at No. 5.
UCLA recorded further individual field wins in the women's triple jump via senior Asha Fletcher (12.90m, also No. 5 in school history) and in the men's weight throw via junior Michael Pinckney (20.78m, No. 7 all-time).
The Bruins also had a strong collective outing in the pole vault, placing the runner-up for the both the men's (Hunter O'Brien, 5.13m) and women's (Ka'Leila Abrille, 4.16m).

UCLA track and field returns to action next week at the Crossroads of America Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind. The meet runs from Jan. 24-25.
