COACHING CHANGE
Tim Skipper will serve as UCLA's interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season after DeShaun Foster was relieved of his head coaching duties on Sept. 14, 2025. Skipper previously served as the special assistant to the head coach under Foster earlier this season.
ย
Last season, Skipper became Fresno State's interim head coach in July of 2024 and guided the Bulldogs to a 6-7 record and a bowl appearance. Skipper was also the acting head coach for Fresno State at the 2023 New Mexico Bowl, which the Bulldogs won over New Mexico State, 37-10. Skipper's previous coaching experience includes stints as defensive coordinator, most recently at UNLV from 2018-19, and assistant head coach responsibilities at Colorado State, Central Michigan and Fresno State. He also coached running backs at Florida from 2015-16 and linebackers from 2017-18.

UCLA PRODUCES ANOTHER HIT IN 38-13 WIN AT MICHIGAN STATE
After their historic upset win over No. 7 Penn State, the Bruins produced another platinum hit with a 38-13 road victory over Michigan State last Saturday. The Bruins scored 38 straight points - its most against an FBS opponent since 2015 - after the Spartans scored on their opening drive. UCLA running back Jalen Berger returned to his former school and scored three touchdowns - two receiving and one rushing. He finished with 89 yards rushing and 24 yards receiving. Bruin quarterback Nico Iamaleava was 16-for-24 for 180 yards with three touchdown passes (two to Berger and one to wide receiver Titus Mokiao-Atimalala). UCLA's defense allowed a season-low 253 yards of total offense and 87 rushing yards against Michigan State.

KEY NOTES ON UCLA
โ€ข UCLA has won back-to-back games versus No. 7 Penn State (Oct. 4) and at Michigan State (Oct. 11) under interim head coach Tim Skipper. Across those two games, UCLA has scored 80 points with 10 touchdowns and averaged 426.5 yards of total offense (253.5 rushing, 173.0 passing) with zero turnovers.
โ€ข UCLA, led by an interim head coach and new offensive and defensive play-callers, defeated No. 7 Penn State, 42-37, at the Rose Bowl for its first win over an AP top-10 opponent since Sept. 24, 2010.
โ€ข UCLA has not surrendered a turnover in three straight games, marking the longest turnover-free streak since the first three contests of the 2005 season when the Bruins played San Diego State, Rice and Oklahoma.
โ€ข The Bruins rank 18th in the FBS and third in the Big Ten Conference in redzone efficiency with 19 scores on 20 trips for a .950 success rate (8 passing TDs, 5 rushing TDs and 6 FGs). UCLA failed to score on its first redzone trip of the season at Michigan State last week (missed FG).
โ€ข Under the guidance of Skipper and senior defensive analyst Kevin Coyle, UCLA's defense has more than tripled its tackle-for-loss output over its last three games; UCLA recorded 5.0 TFLs in games 1-3 and 17.0 TFLs in games 4-6. The Bruins have also forced four fumbles and recovered two over their last two games versus Penn State and at Michigan State.
โ€ข Quarterback Nico Iamaleava has averaged 189.0 passing yards per game on 114-of-172 passing (66.3%), including nine touchdowns, over the first six starts of his UCLA career. He also leads the team in rushing touchdowns (4) and rushing yards (335) through six games. Iamaleava recorded UCLA's longest rush of the season and the longest of his career in the third quarter versus Penn State with a 52-yard carry.
โ€ข Over the last two games with new offensive play-caller Jerry Neuheisel, N. Iamaleava has contributed to eight touchdowns (five passing, three rushing) and averaged 173.0 passing yards per game on 33-of-48 attempts with no interceptions.
โ€ข N. Iamaleava accounted for all of UCLA's five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) and recorded 296 yards of total offense (166 passing, 128 rushing) in its 42-37 upset victory over Penn State. Iamaleava's three rushing touchdowns tied a UCLA QB single-game record; the last time a Bruins quarterback ran for three touchdowns was Rick Bashore against Washington State on Oct. 14, 1978. Former All-American QBs Gary Beban and John Sciarra (twice) also accomplished the feat.
โ€ข N. Iamaleava earned numerous honors for his career performance versus Penn State: AP National Player of the Week, Maxwell Award Player of the Week, Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
โ€ข Wide receiver Titus Mokiao-Atimalala leads the team with three touchdown receptions this season. Mokiao-Atimalala caught his second TD pass in as many weeks on a 12-yard pass from N. Iamaleava in the second quarter at Michigan State.
โ€ข Wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer has recorded a catch in 16 straight games. Gilmer leads the Bruins' receiving corps with 313 yards and 26 catches (12.0 yards per catch). Gilmer scored UCLA's first points against Penn State on an 11-yard pass on the first drive of the game. Gilmer also made the second-longest reception of his career against the Nittany Lions with a 43-yard play in the second quarter to set up a UCLA score. The previous week at Northwestern (Sept. 27), he hauled in his first touchdown of the season on a 29-yard strike in the fourth quarter.
โ€ข Running back Jalen Berger recorded a career-high-tying three touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing) and 89 rushing yards on 12 carries in his return to Michigan State. In doing so, Berger became the first UCLA running back with multiple receiving TDs since Demetric Felton did so against USC in 2020. Berger also became the first UCLA non-QB with three total TDs since Carson Steele versus USC in 2023.
โ€ข Linebackers JonJon Vaughns (9.7) and Isaiah Chisom (9.0) rank first and third in the Big Ten in total tackles per game, respectively. Vaughns has recorded the first four double-digit tackle performances of his career in his final campaign in Westwood.
