Men's Tennis Quartet Starts NCAA Individuals Play Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. โ Four members of the UCLA men's tennis team are set to begin play at the 2025 NCAA Division I Singles and Doubles Championships, beginning Tuesday at the USTA National Campus. Matches continue through Sunday, with the University of Central Florida and the USTA serving as hosts.
Spencer Johnson and Rudy Quan earned spots in the 64-participant singles field. Each will also compete in doubles action, as Johnson plays alongside Emon van Loben Sels and Quan pairs with Aadarsh Tripathi in the 32-team draw. Van Loben Sels is the second singles alternate.
Singles competition starts Tuesday and doubles gets underway Wednesday. ESPN+ will provide coverage.
Quan meets William Jansen of Georgia Tuesday at 12 p.m. PT. Johnson follows soon after, taking on NC State's Martin Borisiouk at 12:30 p.m. On the doubles side, Johnson/van Loben Sels will face Niels Ratiu/Chris Xu of North Carolina and Quan/Tripathi squares off with top-seeded Peter Jovanovic/Benito Sanchez Martinez of Mississippi State.
Johnson and Quan earned their singles spots by way of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, as each made the tournament's final. Johnson/van Loben Sels made the doubles cut by way of winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championships title, while Quan/Tripathi reached the ITA West Sectional Championships final.
All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
