Johnson/van Loben Sels Concludes Time at NCAA Individuals

Doubles pair fell in third-set, 10-point tiebreaker against fourth-seeded Dahlin/Swenson of Michigan.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCLA men's tennis team concluded its time at the 2025 NCAA Division I Singles and Doubles Championships Thursday, as Spencer Johnson/Emon van Loben Sels suffered a three-set loss in the doubles second round. Michigan's pair of Max Dahlin/Bjorn Swenson, seeded fourth and ranked 49th, achieved All-America status with its win at the USTA National Campus.

One day after beating No. 90 Niels Ratiu/Chris Xu of North Carolina by a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(8) score, the Bruins dropped a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(7) decision to their Big Ten Conference cohorts. With their victory, Dahlin and Swenson reached the third round and a date with Ohio State's tandem of Brandon Carpico/Nikita Filin.

Johnson/van Loben Sels finished its fall with a 7-2 record. The duo won the ITA Southwest Regional Championships doubles title to earn its NCAA bid. Johnson/van Loben Sels kicked off the tournament portion of its 2025-26 season with a 6-1, 7-6(0) triumph over No. 29 Henrik Bladelius/Noa Vukadin of Clemson in the ITA All-American Championships main draw.
