UCLA Football Falls to Washington, 48-14

November 22, 2025 | Football

PASADENA, Calif. – The UCLA football team lost to Washington, 48-14, in a Big Ten game and the Bruins' home finale before a crowd of 38,201 at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.

Washington led by a 20-0 margin at halftime and pushed ahead, 34-0, midway through the third quarter. The visiting Huskies (8-3, 5-3 Big Ten) scored a pair of third-quarter touchdowns and led by 34 points before the Bruins (3-8, 3-5) got on the scoreboard with a touchdown late in the third quarter.

UCLA also added a touchdown on a fumble recovery after an errant punt return by Washington with under 12 minutes to play in the game.

Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. completed 17 of 26 passes for 213 yards and two passing touchdowns. He rushed for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground.

UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava completed 16 of 26 passes, totaling 69 yards. Bruins' quarterback Luke Duncan entered the game in the third quarter and threw a 37-yard touchdown strike over the middle of the field to Mikey Matthews. Duncan completed five of 11 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown.

Washington outgained the Bruins in total yardage, 426-207, and registered 214 passing yards. The Bruins totaled 21 pass completions on 37 attempts for 150 passing yards.

The Huskies built a 20-0 first-quarter advantage by scoring a first-quarter field goal, adding one touchdown early in the second period, kicking through a 22-yard field goal in the second quarter and scoring a touchdown on special teams just before the game's intermission.

Washington's first field goal took place after the Bruins had fumbled the ball on their own 20-yard line with under two minutes to play in the period. The Huskies extended their cushion to 10-0, with a 25-yard quarterback keeper by Williams Jr. with 10:56 to play in the second quarter.

Leading UCLA, 13-0, the Huskies capitalized on a Bruins' special teams miscue with under two minutes left in the second quarter. UCLA lined up for a field goal on Washington's 28-yard line. But an errant no-look flip pass on a fake field goal attempt resulted in the Huskies' Alex McLaughlin recovering the fumble and running the ball 59 yards for a Washington touchdown.

Trailing 34-0 to the Huskies, UCLA used a seven-play and 82-yard drive to score a 37-yard touchdown pass, from Duncan to Matthews.

Washington scored its fifth touchdown of the game on a fourth-and-1 situation with 12:53 to play in the fourth quarter.

The Bruins added their second score of the game on a fumble recovery by Jamir Benjamin and ensuing touchdown, reducing Washington's advantage to 41-14, at the 11:19 mark in the contest.

UCLA will compete in its final regular-season game against crosstown rival USC on Saturday, Nov. 29. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. (PT). UCLA's game at USC will be nationally televised by NBC at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
