Jucá Carsalade Selected UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by La Victoria

LOS ANGELES – Redshirt junior Frederico Jucá Carsalade of UCLA Men's Water Polo has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week presented by La Victoria for athletic competitions held between Dec. 2-Dec. 8.
Jucá Carsalade led UCLA to a 3-0 record this week which culminated with an 11-10 win over top-seeded USC to capture the program's 14th and the school's 125th NCAA Championship. He capitalized on a power play with a goal to end the scoring in the third period, trimming the deficit to one goal (8-7) heading into the final quarter against the Trojans. Jucá Carsalade scored the game-winning goal at the buzzer; he was one of three Bruins named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team and was selected as the Most Outstanding Player.
In addition to the two big goals against the Trojans, he opened the tournament with a game-high-tying four goals in the 15-11 win over No. 12 Princeton in the quarterfinals and a team-high-tying two scores in the 9-7 win at No. 3 Stanford in the semifinals. He totaled eight goals on 10 shots for 80 percent shooting over the three games of the NCAA Championship.
Jucá Carsalade also had three assists to finish with a career-high seven total points and added two field blocks and a steal in the win over the Tigers. He then added three assists (five total points) and two steals in the win over Stanford. Additionally, he finished with one field block in the win over USC.
The attacker secures his first-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
