UCLA Gymnastics Ranked No. 4 Nationally, No. 1 in Big Ten

The UCLA Gymnastics team will enter the 2026 season ranked No. 4 in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) preseason coaches' poll and No. 1 in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches' poll. UCLA has earned a Top 10 preseason national ranking every year since 1997.
UCLA is scheduled to face 15 Top 36 opponents in 2026, including three of the Top 5 ranked teams in No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU and No. 5 Utah on Jan. 10 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in West Valley City, Utah. The Bruins have home meets against No. 14 Michigan, No. 21 Ohio State, No. 22 Iowa, No. 27 Nebraska, No. 34 Washington and No. 36 Rutgers. All 12 Big Ten Gymnastics teams are ranked in the Top 36 - No. 4 UCLA, No. 6 Michigan State, No. 14 Michigan, No. 15 Minnesota, No. 21 Ohio State, No. 22 Iowa, No. 26 Penn State, No. 27 Nebraska, No. 28 Maryland, No. 31 Illinois, No. 34 Washington and No. 36 Rutgers. The Big Ten's preseason coaches poll nearly mirrors that of the national poll, with the defending conference champion Bruins ranking No. 1.
Additionally, UCLA Olympians Jordan Chiles and Tiana Sumanasekera were selected as Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch for 2026. Chiles is one of four All-Americans on the list, and Sumanasekera is one of just two freshmen.
Chiles returns for her senior season directly following a third-place finish on Dancing with the Stars. In 2025, Chiles won the NCAA uneven bars title, her third career NCAA individual championship, as well as a share of the Big Ten floor exercise title. She added seven more All-America honors to her collection last season, bringing her career total to 16, fourth-most in UCLA history. Chiles scored three perfect 10s in 2025, one on uneven bars and two on floor exercise. She led UCLA with 29 individual victories and 22 scores of 9.950 or higher. The two-time Olympian won team gold and was awarded bronze on floor exercise at the 2024 Olympics and won team silver at the 2020 Games.ย
Sumanasekera, a freshman from Pleasanton, Calif., was an alternate for the U.S. team at the 2024 Olympics. A five-time U.S. National Team member, she has finished in the Top 10 in the all-around at each of the last three U.S. Championships and earned a bronze medal on floor exercise at the 2024 Nationals and a third-place finish on balance beam at the 2024 Olympic Trials. At the 2023 Pan American Championships, she won three gold medals (team, all-around and beam) and a silver on floor exercise.ย
