STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The 24th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team rolled to a 4-0 victory against Penn State in Big Ten Conference play Sunday on the outdoor courts at Sarni Tennis Center.
The Bruins (8-7, 3-3 in Big Ten play) got straight-set singles wins from Elise Wagle, Ahmani Guichard and clincher Olivia Center in order to seal the overall result. Center and Guichard also prevailed in their doubles matches, contributing to an undefeated day. The Nittany Lions (13-5, 4-4) were coming off a 4-3 triumph over No. 14 USC Friday.
The doubles combination of Guichard and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer rolled to a 6-1 victory against Maria Daciana Ciubotaru and Jelena Vico on Court 3 to get things started. Guichard/Lutkemeyer has won five straight matches and seven of eight. Then, with No. 31 Wagle/Kimmi Hance nearing a win of its own up top, No. 3 Center/Kate Fakih secured the opening point. The pair's team-high 23rd doubles victory was a 6-4 decision over Jordina Cegarra and Patricia Grigoras on Court 2.
