UCLA (29-10, 13-5 Big Ten) has its impressive streak of 10 consecutive winning weekends, which began in final series of 2024, come to an end. This also marksย the Bruins' first defeat this season when scoring six or more runs.

UCLA rallied from behind to tie the game in the eighth inning, but Oregon (27-11, 14-7 Big Ten) posted a four-spot in the bottom half of the frame to propel itself to victory.

Dean West led the Bruins' offense with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. UCLA's leadoff hitter smacked a pair of doubles and drove in a run.

Roman Martin blasted his third home run of the campaign and Mulivai Levu enjoyed a two-hit day. Eight of the nine UCLA starters recorded a hit in the contest.

After a scoreless first, Oregon plated two runs in the second to build an early lead. UCLA replied by pushing a run across in the top of the third when Phoenix Call was plunked to start the inning, West doubled off the wall, then Roch Cholowsky came through with an RBI ground out.

The Bruins roared into the lead by scoring three times in the fourth. Martin led off the frame by launching a solo shot off the batter's eye in center field. AJ Salgado ripped a line drive to right then Jarrod Hocking doubled to left. Cashel Dugger scored Salgado with a ground out before Call smashed a liner off the shortstop's glove to bring Hocking around to score.

The lead was short lived, however, as the Ducks rallied for four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a two-run advantage.

UCLA got a run back in the top of the sixth when West doubled down the right-field line to score Kasen Khansarinia, who made his first career start on Saturday afternoon.

Cholowsky lined a base hit up the middle to tie the contest in the top of the eighth, but the Bruins stranded the bases loaded with an opportunity to take the lead. Oregon its restored lead in the bottom half when Burke-Lee Mabeus hit a solo homer to put his team out in front. The Ducks continued to add insurance, scoring four runs in the inning to take a four-run advantage into the ninth.
UCLA was unable to mount a comeback and the hosts were able to clinch the series with its 10-6 win.

The Bruins return to the Golden State for a midweek contest against another ranked opponent, No. 12 UC Irvine, on Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. PT. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
