The Golden Spikes Award, widely regarded as the most prestigious honor for college baseball's national player of the year, celebrates the top amateur baseball player in the United States, recognizing their athletic prowess, sportsmanship, character, and overall contributions to the sport. Cholowsky is one of 45 players named to this year's midseason watch list.

The shortstop is hitting .350 with nine home runs and 31 RBIs during his excellent campaign. Cholowsky boasts team-bests in on-base percentage (.518) and slugging (.710) to post an OPS of 1.228.

Cholowsky smashed a grand slam in the team's next contest, an 8-4 win over newly-ranked Arizona State on Feb. 25.
ย
In what was arguably UCLA's most exhilarating win of the season, Cholowsky hit a three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning, giving the Bruins the lead when they were down to their final out against Maryland on March 7.
